Michigan Wolverines fans couldn’t help but mock the Ohio State Buckeyes for the rather odd timing of their announcement for their walk-on tryouts.
On Tuesday, less than a day after Jim Harbaugh and Michigan won the national championship over the Washington Huskies, the Buckeyes dropped an announcement on social media calling on aspiring athletes to try out for the men’s football team.
The announcement included the eligibility requirements, as well as the required paper works and the date and time for an interest meeting on February 1st.
It certainly looked like a normal announcement, and it is. However, what many Michigan fans found funny was the fact that Ohio State dropped it right after their big conference rival just won the title–all while the rest of Buckeyes nation were on their homes watching it unfold.
Sure enough, for the Wolverines faithful, the Buckeyes seemed to be calling for some mockery, which they more than happily gave.

Michigan Wolverines Fans Troll Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State Buckeyes fans had fun with the announcement as well, as many fans and students hilariously pitched themselves on the reply section and quote-tweets.
Nonetheless, as mentioned, several Michigan Wolverines fans also took the opportunity to throw some insults at their Big Ten rivals.
“Listen, I’m sure they post this every year. But doing it the day after your rival wins the national championship is an all time bad look,” a commenter wrote.
Another one joked, “Who won the National Championship? Also, I came here to see the final score of the game and don’t see it anywhere. Can you please post it?”
A Wolverines supporter added, “Not them posting this the day after we win the natty.” Another one found it funny, saying: “Michigan wins the natty and now they are asking Clase80Speed and CJStroudMVP to walk on for them I’m crying.”
“Ohio is down bad right now they’re looking for anyone who can help… I mean anyone … Go Blue!!!” a Michigan fan furthered.
Michigan fans definitely had a field day with Ohio State’s latest social media move. Sure it’s completely normal, but the Buckeyes surely did expect that trolls would come at them when they decided to post it after the Wolverines, right?
Regardless of whoever made the decision on posting it either deserves a promotion or demotion. If the goal is to bring attention to it–regardless if it’s positive or negative–then job well done. But if not, well, they have their answer.
