Michigan started its 2024 season with a win against Fresno State, but they did without the Michigan man himself, Jim Harbaugh.
Last season, Harbaugh was also missing Week One, but that was due to a suspension for illegally recurting during the Covid dead period.
This time, Harbaugh won’t be coming to save the day because he is now in the NFL as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, but even though he’s no longer in the college game, he’s still going after the NCAA.
The NCAA handed down a four-year show-cause penalty to Harbaugh a few weeks ago for illegally recruiting during Covid, so the former Michigan head coach isn’t a fan of them and ripped them apart with some comments he just made.
The NCAA was hit with a 2.7 billion dollar lawsuit earlier this year that would pay athletes for damages over ten years.
Harbaugh made sure to make his statements about the NCAA, and he was going after them with everything he had.
Former Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh Says The NCAA Has No Credibility
According to Nick Kosko from On3.com, Harbaugh attacked the NCAA in an interview with ESPN, stating”They’ve been keeping money away from players for decades. They just got hit with a $2.7 billion lawsuit. They have no credibility. That’s the truth.”

Harbaugh had favored players being paid at the college level for a while, and the NCAA had prevented it for a long time before NIL came into play in 2021.
The NCAA has been keeping the profits that the players bring in, so Harbaugh is correct in that the NCAA has been keeping money away from the players for decades.
NIL and the NCAA are two different things, and the money players are getting isn’t from the NCAA. It’s from donors and businesses who are willing to pay the athletes.
Michigan is still under fire at the moment for the sign-stealing scandal last season, and no punishment has been given out by the NCAA yet. However, they have sent them notice that one is coming, so this probably isn’t the last time you will hear from the Chargers head coach about how much he loves the NCAA.
