The Michigan Wolverines have not seen many players leave the program after Jim Harbaugh moved to the NFL. However, their coaching staff has seen a lot of turnover. Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter left along with their defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coach. It has left new head coach Sherrone Moore scrambling to fill positions. Reports indicate that after hiring Wink Martindale, the program is hiring Wisconsin Badgers defensive line coach Greg Scruggs for the same position.
Report: Michigan Wolverines Hire Greg Scruggs
FWIW, @jaypo1961 from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is also reporting that Scruggs is leaving Wisconsin for Michigan.https://t.co/uUF3BW9o4L https://t.co/DIC1JzL9oV

Scruggs came to the Badgers when Luke Fickell was hired. He had a huge challenge in his first year. Keanu Benton left for the NFL, and Scruggs had to coach up a younger line. The star was James Thompson Jr., who led the defensive line with 29 tackles and three sacks. In general, Wisconsin struggled last year. However, Scruggs has a track record of building strong defensive lines. Michigan has no shortage of talent at the position.
Michigan 2024 Outlook

This team is a complete wild card for the 2024 season. Their schedule is tough. Having Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, and USC in the regular season is a testament to how the new Big Ten will look. However, Michigan has done a great job at hiring top-tier talent quickly. The Moore hire is looking better and better. Martindale comes with NFL experience. While the loss of their quarterback, running back, and key defensive pieces will hurt, this team may be more competitive than people think.
Can the Michigan Wolverines make some noise in 2024? If they can keep hiring quality coaches, they may surprise some people.
