The New York Jets made a surprise move by cutting a promising young running back Tuesday. The move came after star running back Dalvin Cook said he wanted his agent to get the Jets to explore trades before the deadline because he wasn’t getting enough touches.
The Jets will likely ask more of Cook going forward.
The New York Jets cut an RB
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Jets cut Michael Carter.

The Jets drafted Carter in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s averaging 4.8 yards per rush this season and 4.0 yards per rush in his career. Carter has only 38 yards rushing this season.
Carter’s cut was called a “surprise” by Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network. The Jets are cutting ties with a young running back and will rely on Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook to improve an offense that has stagnated recently.
We’ll see if this move will get Cook more touches.
