McCormick started his college career with the Oregon Ducks as a three-star prospect in the class of 2016. He did not play his true freshman season but registered six receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown during the 2017 campaign. However, McCormick registered just two catches across the next three seasons. He returned to regular production in 2022, catching ten passes for 66 yards and three scores. The six-foot-five, 251-pound tight end transferred to Miami for last season. He caught eight passes for 62 yards. His best game of the season came against Virginia in late October, snagging two passes for 15 yards. He has yet to score while playing for the Hurricanes.

Freshman Riley Williams and junior Elijah Arroyo should return alongside Cam McCormick. Williams had eight catches for 72 yards and one touchdown this season. He came to Miami last year as a four-star recruit. Meanwhile, Arroyo has collected 11 catches for 163 yards and one score in three years with the ACC program. Miami also inked tight end Elija Lofton for the upcoming class. The Las Vegas native is the 12th-ranked tight end per 247Sports.

Fellow tight ends Domonic Mammarelli and Jaleel Skinner have entered the transfer portal. Mammarelli has one catch in four years, while Skinner had just one reception last season.
