In the latest edition of I Am Athlete with Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins wide-receiver Tyreek Hill was asked many questions about his time on the Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs. But one question in particular might have some of you scratching your head at his response.
Tyreek Hill’s Pick: Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa? Or Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes?
There’s no doubt that Patrick Mahomes is one, if not, the best quarterback of all time. He is doing elite things on the field that no other quarterback could even try to replicate. He’s already got two Super Bowl rings on his hand, and has appeared in three in just the last five years as a starter for KC.
Tyreek Hill played with Mahomes since the QB made his debut in 2017, and has seen him do great things. But, Miami’s QB Tua Tagovailoa is his own different kind of player that sets him apart from the others in a good way. Hill said being able to work with Tagovailoa the last two seasons has been something that makes him believe Tagovailoa is the better quarterback (In his opinion).
“We all know man Pat is still the best quarterback in the NFL, obviously man, like what he does is just something that no quarterback in this league can copy,” Hill said. “His ability to create plays when there aren’t plays to make is just ridiculous and then just the arm talent, and just him being him, it’s just crazy.
“Now you would think a receiver like me would want to play like that, but I’m in Miami, I’m with Tua, man, I’m living the life. Tua is accurate, he’s on-time, he’s, the ball is right here, quarterback friendly…I love Pat, he’s the best quarterback in the league, but I gotta go with my boy ‘1’, man. One is different…Cause if I don’t say it then he not gonna throw me the ball.”
Marshall also brought it up that he didn’t think he would be pushing 2,000 yards had Hill still been playing behind Mahomes.
Hill said that being able to witness Mahomes and what he’s able to do while he played in Kansas City, and seeing his mindset and his passion for football is amazing. He also said how Mahomes has helped him recognize when to wear ‘certain hats’, when to be a football player, and when to be the son, father, brother that many know him to be.
This all comes ahead of the Dolphins & Chiefs matchup in Frankfurt, Germany as part of the 2023 NFL International Games that’ll take place on Sunday, Nov 5. This will be the first time that Tyreek Hill will face his former team since being traded to Miami.
