When Don Kleiman posted a meme that was captioned, “Explain in NFL terms:”, Hill couldn’t help but take a jab at the Dolphins’ assistant coach Wes Welker.

Hill’s response is kind of ironic seeing how Welker was one of the more dominant slot receivers in his prime when he played alongside Tom Brady and later with Payton Manning. Hill did give Welker his flowers, though. Hill posted back in January that Welker was an “underrated coach” and that he needed to get some head coaching interviews.

Welker is going into his third season as the Dolphins wide receiver coach. He spent three seasons with Miami as a player when he signed with them in 2004, just a week after being released by the San Diego Chargers.
He actually was the one to end the Dolphins’ 25-year drought without a kickoff return when he scored against the Baltimore Ravens in the final game of the 2004 season. He also was the team’s receptions leader in 2006 with 67 before he was traded to the New England Patriots in the offseason.
The assistant coach is No. 27 on the NFL’s all-time reception list, locking in with 903 receptions for 9,934 yards. Welker had five seasons with at least 100 catches and 1,000 yards, respectively.
Welker has complimented Hill for his talent in the past, even saying he’s better than his former teammate Randy Moss back in Nov. 2023.
“Randy Moss was the best deep ball receiver in the game,” Welker said, per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. “Tyreek Hill runs the whole route tree. Name a route he can’t run. How he approaches every day and every game is very impressive. That’s where he separates himself.”
Hill had an outstanding 2023 campaign, where he recorded a league-leading 1,799 receiving yards with 13 touchdown carries. The wide receiver looks to improve that and hit the 2,000 yard mark in 2024.
