The Miami Dolphins look to move their record to 7-2 as they face the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC showdown in Frankfurt, Germany as part of the NFL’s International Series.
The Chiefs, just like the Dolphins, are 6-2 and are coming off a 24-9 loss against the Denver Broncos, a team the Dolphins crushed 70-20.
The Dolphins are coming off of a 31-17 win over the New England Patriots, securing a regular season sweep of a division opponent.
Miami Dolphins Quarterback Speaks About Patrick Mahomes
While he hasn’t been able to catch up on his sleep since being in Frankfurt, Dolphin’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa says it’s never easy going against Patrick Mahomes and how he commands his offense.
“Yeah, it’s never easy going against Pat,” Tua said. “But I would say and Pat would say the same: It’s not me playing against Pat, Pat playing against me. It’s our offense having to go against their defense, their offense having to go against our defense…At the end of the day what we’re trying to do is try to score one more point than the other team and try to get a win.”
This is the first time since his rookie season that Tagovailoa will be facing Mahomes and the Chiefs. Miami’s QB says that a lot of things are different and he’s definitely grown as a player in his last four years. Four years ago, Dolphins fans and probably players would say that the offensive system that they have going now is miles ahead of what was the system four years ago.
“I think there’s a lot of things that are different, one being the offensive system that I’m playing in now compared to the offensive system that I had then. Then the supporting cast that I have and really there’s just a lot of things that are different.”
A chance to play against the Super Bowl Champions is a huge feat for any team, and for a team like Miami who has a legitimate shot at making it to the big stage, Tagovailoa says it’s a great challenge, but a fun one.
“Any opportunity for us to play a team that has been to the Super Bowl within the last couple of years or the last year and has won it, I think that’s always a great challenge,” Tua said. “For our team to have this opportunity to go against a Pat Mahomes team, it’ll be fun and it’ll give us a chance to see where we’re going to this bye week as a team.”
