Tua Tagovailoa’s recent injury woes has left the Miami Dolphins in need of a talented quarterback to man the team’s offense. In this regard, the front office should look into the availability of Zach Wilson and how they can acquire him from the Denver Broncos.
Tagovailoa has been diagnosed with his third concussion after a collision during a game against the Buffalo Bills. The injury occurred when the QB hit his head on the turf following a tackle by defensive back Damar Hamlin. After remaining on the ground for a couple of minutes, he managed to walk off the field but was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.
This incident marks a troubling continuation of Tagovailoa’s injury history, which includes two concussions during the previous season and another while playing at Alabama. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the team’s commitment to the quarterback’s health, stating that the focus is on providing him with the proper care and evaluation moving forward. Although the Dolphins lost the game 31-10, team members expressed their concern for his well-being, underscoring the strong bond within the organization.
Tagovailoa’s recent contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL, reflects his importance to the team. His performance prior to the injury had been impressive, positioning him as a key player for the Dolphins. The team and fans alike are now left to hope for a swift and complete recovery, as discussions about his future in the sport continue to loom, especially given his history of head injuries and the significant impact they could have on his career.
The Reason Why Zach Wilson Should Be Considered by the Miami Dolphins as a Trade Target
Tagovailoa’s injury may open up the way for Miami to acquire Wilson from the Denver Broncos. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox explained why the reason for this projected trade in an NFL analysis.
“A week ago, we pegged the Green Bay Packers as a potential suitor, but they got surprisingly efficient play out of backup Malik Willis on Sunday. With Jordan Love (MCL sprain) possibly close to a return, the Packers are probably out of the quarterback market.
The Miami Dolphins, however, may not be. They lost Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion last Thursday. While Miami recently signed Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, it might want additional depth if Skylar Thompson proves incapable of bridging the gap to Tagovailoa’s return,” Knox wrote.
With Wilson sidelined and not participating in the first two games, the Broncos may see the Dolphins as a potential trade partner, especially amid concerns about Tagovailoa’s health. Wilson still has starting potential to play in Miami at a high level.
This trade could signify a crucial shift for the Broncos as they navigate their quarterback landscape and future plans. In turn, this move can help the Dolphins stabilize their offense, especially with Tagovailoa out of the lineup.
