The Miami Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night football 31-10. That wasn’t the biggest story of the night for the Dolphins. Once again, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in the third quarter and he did not return to the game.
It was the third concussion of his NFL career. Tagovailoa was the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He recently signed a contract extension with the Dolphins. However, they had a chance to take Justin Herbert in the 2020 NFL Draft and passed on him.

It is not a surprise that last night’s game made people come out of the closet and say that Justin Herbert should have been drafted by the Dolphins in 2020 instead of Tua Tagovailoa. Well, the fans are correct about how the Dolphins would be better if they had Herbert over Tua. Miami is going to have to look for quarterbacks now after the latest concussion.
Stats Are Not Even Close
In their NFL careers, the stats are not even close between Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert. Tagovailoa has completed 66.8% of his passes for 13,122 yards, 83 touchdowns, and 40 touchdowns. As for Herbert, he has completed 66.6% of his passes for 17,367 yards, 115 touchdowns, and 42 interceptions.
Herbert has way more touchdown passes at this point in his NFL career than Tua Tagovailoa does. Tagovailoa has had more talent around him than Herbert in his career. Justin Herbert has done more with less and has had to deal with more dysfunction.
Imagine what head coach Mike McDaniel would be able to do with Justin Herbert as his quarterback. It will be interesting to see if Tua Tagovailoa will ever play another down in the NFL ever again. No matter how it is looked at, the Miami Dolphins made a mistake in the 2020 NFL Draft by not drafting Herbert. He could very well win a Super Bowl within the next few years with Jim Harbaugh as his head coach.
