The Baltimore Ravens lost much of its help in the trenches on both sides of the ball this offseason. The Ravens face an uphill battle to return to the AFC Championship game in the upcoming season. One key member of the 2023 Ravens, Jadeveon Clowney, signed with the Carolina Panthers in free agency.
The Baltimore Ravens could reunite with a former draft pick

Alex Ballentine with Bleacher Report has one trade idea in mind for the Ravens this offseason. Ballentine thinks the Ravens should try to reunite with one of their former draft picks, Matthew Judon. Judon had an incredible season with the New England Patriots in 2022, when he recorded 15.5 sacks. He suffered a torn lower bicep injury last season. Ballantine thinks the Patriots should move on from Judon:
“The New England Patriots are one of the most obvious rebuilding teams in the league right now. Most teams in the league try some form of competitive roster re-tooling. The Pats aren’t exactly hiding their intent with their $49.3 million in cap space.
So where does a soon-to-be 32-year-old coming off a torn bicep injury fit into a team that is clearly looking toward the future?
That’s the question the Patriots have to ask themselves. Jerod Mayo explained away Matthew Judon’s absence at OTAs as something that “isn’t unusual.” However, it’s notable that he’s set to cost the Pats $14.7 million and they have plenty of young players on the perimeter who would benefit from the extra snaps that would come with trading away Judon.”
The New England Patriots don’t need Matthew Judon

Baltimore would be a logical trade partner for the Patriots. The Patriots are rebuilding, so they’re not expected to be a major competitor in the AFC like the Ravens are. Judon would be familiar with the Ravens’ scheme and would be happy playing on a team that believes it can win a Super Bowl this season:
“From the veteran’s perspective, it makes a whole lot more sense to be chasing a ring with a contender in the twilight of his career than hanging around on a roster that isn’t ready to compete.
A reunion with the Baltimore Ravens, who drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 draft, would make sense for all parties involved. The Ravens need some proven production on the perimeter. David Ojabo and Odafe Oweh are potential breakout players, but they still could use another threat on the outside to replace Jadeveon Clowney.
The parameters for this deal are similar to the one that brought Za’Darius Smith to Cleveland last season. Judon is relatively close to the same age and had 28 combined sacks in 2021 and 2022.”

Patriots receive
- 2025 fifth-round pick
- 2026 fifth-round pick
Ravens receive
- Matthew Judon
A package of two Day 3 picks isn’t much compensation for the Patriots. After all, Judon made four Pro Bowl appearances in a row before he suffered an injury last season. However, the Patriots could use the capital to build up their roster so that they can be competitive again.
The Ravens need to win now, so giving up two fifth-round picks isn’t much for a player who can be the difference in making one crucial stop against a team like the Kansas City Chiefs or Houston Texans in January.

Why trade Judon, or anybody else, for 2 day 3 picks?? Only if a team needed cap relief would they do that. What a stupid article
