It’s that time of year again, Madden ratings are being released on Twitter. As these ratings are released, there comes polarization and debate about players and their ratings. In this year’s game installment, the Birds are ranked #10 in the league with an 83 team-overall rating. But, some Eagles have made the rounds as underrated and overrated. Let’s take a look:
Offensive Notables
Lane Johnson – 92 OVR
Jason Kelce – 90 OVR
AJ Brown – 87 OVR
Dallas Goedert – 85 OVR
Jordan Mailata – 84 OVR
Devonta Smith – 83 OVR
Miles Sanders – 82 OVR
Jalen Reagor – 74 OVR
Jalen Hurts – 74 OVR
There’s a lot to unpack here. Firstly, Lane Johnson is tied for the highest-rated player on the team, which is well-deserved. He is rated as the #7 O-lineman in the NFL and the Eagles’ run blockers are rated #1 in the league. AJ Brown’s rating seems a little low but I won’t complain as he is the best skill player in Philly. Also, don’t worry about Jordan Mailata. His rating is set to improve this year as he gets more media attention (because that’s all Madden cares about).
As we look also at Sanders and Smith, it puts into perspective how young and talented this team is. Take the top 7 players on offense, and 5 of them are under 27. As for the final two listed, I don’t know what’s worse. Could it be that Jalen Reagor is high enough to be rated the same as Hurts? Or that Hurts is low enough to be rated as low as Reagor. Either way, the Jalen(s) ratings are a little lackluster. Like Mailata, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hurts moves up a letter grade, to an 80 or so. Hurts’ 74 ranks him as the 24th QB in the game.
P.s. Quez Watkins has the second highest speed in the game, behind only Tyreek Hill.

Defensive Notables
Darius Slay – 92 OVR
Fletcher Cox – 88 OVR
Javon Hargrave – 84 OVR
Haason Reddick – 82 OVR
James Bradberry – 82 OVR
Anthony Harris – 80 OVR
Jordan Davis – 78 OVR
Nakobe Dean – 71 OVR
So now let us break this down. To start, Slay is undoubtedly the best defensive player the team has, and Madden got it right. Cox being an 88 is honestly surprising to me, given that his production has been disastrously lowering the last 2 years. Hargrave over Reddick also surprises me because Reddick is the bigger name and that usually dictates ratings in this game. Also, Bradberry and Harris make you feel comfortable with our secondary this year, a luxury we’re not used to here. Lastly, you have the two rookies. Rookie ratings are notoriously low, and if that’s the case here, Davis and Dean are gonna be rated pretty high come December.
P.s. Eagles rumored trade target and Bengals safety Jessie Bates would be the Eagles’ fourth player rated at 90 overall or higher. You can check out the latest on him here.
What do you think about the Eagles Madden ratings? Please leave a comment and tell us what you think they should be. Of course, I know what team I’m running with this season. And lastly, Fly Eagles Fly baby.
