LSU announced the devastating news early Sunday morning that wide receiver Kyren Lacy was found deceased in Houston, Texas, just weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft. This tragic discovery came only days before Lacy was scheduled to appear in court on a charge of alleged negligent homicide.
Reports suggest that Lacy was involved in a high-speed pursuit shortly before his death by suicide.

According to local authorities, Kyren Lacy died of an apparent “self-inflicted gunshot wound” after a police pursuit in Texas:
Lacy was arguing with a family member on Saturday and reportedly pulled out a gun and shot it at the ground before leaving the area.
Information obtained by WBRZ stated cops spotted him driving, and although they signaled for him to pull over, he would take off and lead them on a chase.
He was chased for several miles before crashing.
Upon heading to his vehicle, they would notice that he shot himself during the pursuit and before the crash.
Before his arrest, Lacy was projected to be picked in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He played three seasons at LSU and led the team with nine touchdowns in his last season.
2025 NFL Draft hopeful Kyren Lacy died days before a grand jury was set to begin arguments over his alleged hit-and-run case.

The former Louisiana State University wide receiver was arrested in December 2024 and charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving after authorities presumed he was involved in a fatal car accident that killed one individual and injured others.
He reportedly announced his decision to go into the NFL one day after the accident.
Lacy was released on bond two days before declaring for the NFL Draft. He had maintained his innocence in the legal case.
At the time, Kyren Lacy was reportedly said to be illegally passing other vehicles when a pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge,” a press release read.
“Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.”
Lacy turned himself in to the police following the car accident and was arrested.
