Last year, the Los Angeles Rams used their fourth-round pick in the draft to pick up highly promising Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett. The 26-year-old has since failed to play a single minute in the NFL due to injury.
At this point, there’s no denying that LA has to be holding at least a little bit of regret over their decision to draft Bennett.
Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay Speak Out on Stetson Bennett Situation
It now goes without saying that there is currently a lot of doubt surrounding Bennett’s future not only with the Rams but perhaps in professional football as well. LA head coach Sean McVay spoke to the press in a video conference on Thursday and Bennett’s status with the squad was one of the questions he was faced with.
According to the Super Bowl-winning shot-caller, the Rams appear to be in no rush to speak with the young quarterback about potentially rejoining the team for the upcoming season:
The Rams will “connect with” QB Stetson Bennett “at the appropriate time,” said McVay, per team reporter Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.
At this point, it would not be a complete surprise if the Rams decide not to recall Bennett ahead of the 2024 season.
“And you figure out, ‘All right, where are you at?’ And is this something we feel like is best for him and our football team to bring him back into this ecosystem,” McVay stated.
Is it over before it even started for Stetson?
