Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay seems unfazed about the injury bug taking his team’s running back room by storm. The bench boss took to the podium on Friday, telling the media that the newly signed Darrell Henderson Jr. will suit up and play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Rams’ RB Darrell Henderson Jr. will be promoted off the practice squad for Sunday’s game vs. the Steelers. “Darrell came back in, he's a guy that's going to be up and active this week,” said Rams’ HC Sean McVay. “He's done a great job of being able to quickly re-acclimate himself…

“Darrell came back in. He’s a guy that’s going to be up and active this week,” said McVay about Henderson joining the Rams earlier this week.
McVay continued, saying, “He’s done a great job of being able to quickly re-acclimate himself back to a lot of the things that we’ve done. He’s taking good care of himself in the meantime.”
Darrell Henderson Jr. signed with the Arlington Renegades of the XFL earlier this month. Still, he signed with the Rams after injuries to starting running back Kyren Williams and backup Ronnie Rivers. Henderson played four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams before this year.
Darrell Henderson Jr.: NFL Profile
The Los Angeles Rams burned a third-round draft pick on Darrell Henderson Jr. in 2019. However, the former Memphis star never panned out, never eclipsing 700 rushing yards in his first four seasons with the Rams. He averaged just 4.0 yards per carry in ten games with LA in 2022.
The five-foot-eight running back was released in November last season and had a short stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars before he was out of the league. However, due to injuries in the Los Angeles Rams’ running back room, the 2021 Super Bowl champs have called upon Henderson to return.
Los Angeles Rams; Running Back Group Amid Week 7 Clash
Darrell Henderson Jr. will join a running back group featuring Royce Freeman, Zach Evans, and Myles Gaskin. Freeman has split time between the active roster and the practice squad, mainly playing special teams for the Rams.
Meanwhile, Gaskin was picked up off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad earlier this week, while Evans, a rookie sixth-round draft pick from Ole Miss, has just four rush attempts this season.
