The Los Angeles Rams are fighting for one of the final playoff spots in the NFC Conference. Head coach Sean McVay has been making roster tweaks to try and squeeze the most out of his roster. Last week, the Rams signed former Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby to the practice squad. Less than a week later, they decided to part ways with the veteran.
Los Angeles Rams Cut K Mason Crosby
Crosby didn’t play on Sunday and Lucas Havrisik had an excellent day kicking. He went 3-for-3 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points. McVay must have seen enough to feel good about Havrisik making Crosby expendable. It was a short stint for the veteran and he never saw the field in a regular season capacity. Maybe a little competition was all the current kicker needed to step up his game.
Can The Rams Make The Playoffs?
There is a log jam of teams at 6-7 in the NFC. The Rams, Packers, Saints, Falcons, Seahawks, and Bucs are all 6-7 with the Giants and Bears also lurking at 5-8. Los Angeles will have to hold off a lot of teams especially the Packers who they lose the tiebreaker to due to the head-to-head matchup. However, they definitely have the pieces to do it. Matthew Stafford is playing well with Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. Aaron Donald anchors a frisky defense that has overperformed. It is definitely possible especially as the NFC South starts to cannibalize each other.
The Los Angeles Rams are in a much better position than anyone thought they would be in at this point of the year. Hopefully, they can overcome the injuries and make the wild card round.
