The Los Angeles Chargers are officially in a new era of football. The hire of Jim Harbaugh, the reigning National Champion, has brought excitement back to Los Angeles.
The team has undergone numerous changes this off-season to both their offensive and defensive personnel. However, one recent move had a major impact on their defense.

Our very own Jackson Loschko covered the news on Friday:
Jefferson retired after the conclusion of the 2022 season and spent the 2023 season as a Scouting Intern as part of the Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship.
After spending the 2023 season as a Scouting Intern, he unretired on May 28, 2024.
He signed a contract on Friday.
According to Jordan Schultz of Schultz_Report, the Los Angeles Chargers signed Jefferson to a contract.
“Comeback complete: Free agent safety Tony Jefferson is officially coming out of retirement and signing with the #Chargers, per sources.
“The deal comes after Jefferson tried out during LA’s minicamp and impressed. New Bolts GM Joe Hortiz was previously in Baltimore with Jefferson.”
The Chargers’ depth at the safety position outside Derwin James and Alohi Gilman were young and inexperienced before the Jefferson signing.
Their backups include A.J. Finley, JT Woods, Jalyn Phillips, and Akeem Dent. Finley is in his second year and played 12 games and 26 defensive snaps in 2023. Woods is in his third year and has played 13 games and 91 defensive snaps in his career. Finally, Phillips and Dent are undrafted free agents from the 2024 NFL Draft.

A solid veteran presence in the secondary for the Chargers. Jefferson worked with defensive coordinator Jesse Minter in Baltimore. He’s also a Chula Vista native. https://t.co/OhjMmk0hqZ
