The Los Angeles Chargers are adding another running back as Austin Ekeler recovers from an ankle injury that he sustained against the Dolphins on Sunday.  Ekeler will be hard to replace as he is coming off a season in which he recorded  1,600 yards and 18 total touchdowns.  However, the Chargers will attempt to do just that and signed one guy they think could help.

Los Angeles Chargers Sign Running Back Jaret Patterson Amid Austin Ekeler Injury

Jaret Patterson was an un-drafted free agent in 2021. He had an incredibly successful career at the University of Buffalo. During his three seasons as a pro, the 5’9, 195-pound running back gained 3,884 yards and 52 touchdowns. His best season was in 2019 with 1,799 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Patterson started one game as a rookie with the Commanders and appeared in all 17 regular-season games. In addition to 266 rushing yards and two touchdowns, he caught 10 passes for 73 receiving yards.

Josh Kelley will likely get the majority of snaps against the Titans if Austin Ekeler is unable to play. Isaiah Spiller and Elijah Dotson will complement him.
