How will the Los Angeles Chargers rebuild their offense?
In an all-encompassing new era in Los Angeles, the Chargers have parted ways with nearly all of their offensive playmakers as the club watched Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler, and Gerald Evetertt all depart in free agency.
According to ESPN’s latest free agency projections, the Chargers could begin their offensive re-shaping by agreeing to a deal with former Dallas Cowboys wideout, Mike Gallup.
“Mike Gallup doesn’t play special teams, so he needs to be in a third wideout role where the players below him can contribute on returns and coverages. Even if the Chargers draft a wideout in the first round of April’s draft for the second consecutive season, the guys behind that wideout would be Quentin Johnston, Josh Palmer and Derius Davis. I’d be willing to take a flier on him and see if the 28-year-old still has something left in the tank.”
Los Angeles Chargers Enter New Era with Jim Harbaugh
Following an injury-riddled 2023 season, the Los Angeles Chargers are ready for a new era. Brandon Stanley was dismissed on ‘Black Monday’ on the day after the end of the NFL’s 2023 regular season. Just weeks after winning a National Championship with the Michigan Wolverines, Jim Harbaugh left Ann Arbor for ‘The City of Angels’ in Los Angeles. Harbaugh brought over Jesse Minter from Michigan to man the defense while hiring Kellen Moore to be the club’s new offensive coordinator.
With the coaching staff set, the Chargers quickly turned their focus to opening up some cap room. The club decided to part ways with several of their top playmakers on the offensive side of the ball in the form of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler, and Gerald Everett.
