How will the Los Angeles Chargers build their roster under Jim Harbaugh?
In former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum’s latest 2024 NFL mock draft, the Los Angeles Chargers pass on offensive weapons such as LSU’s Malik Nabers, Georgia’s Brock Bowers, and Washington’s Rome Odunze to select franchise signal caller, Justin Herbert’s newest offensive lineman in the form of Notre Dame’s Joe Alt.
“The Chargers gave up 43 sacks last season, 13th-most in the NFL. So despite the top receivers all being on the board and a glaring need there after trading Keenan Allen and cutting Mike Williams, I’m choosing to instead protect quarterback Justin Herbert. Alt is 6-foot-9 with great movement traits, and he gave up just six sacks over 2,142 snaps in college. Fortifying the offensive line is the foundation of any Jim Harbaugh team, and that’s especially true after Herbert missed four games last season due to a fractured finger. The WR class is deep, so I’m taking my OT1 now and worrying about the pass-catchers on Day 2.”
Los Angeles Chargers Looking For Fresh Start with Jim Harbaugh
Following an injury-riddled 2023 season, the Los Angeles Chargers are ready for a new era. Brandon Stanley was dismissed on ‘Black Monday’ on the day after the end of the NFL’s 2023 regular season. Just weeks after winning a National Championship with the Michigan Wolverines, Jim Harbaugh left Ann Arbor for ‘The City of Angels’ in Los Angeles. Harbaugh brought over Jesse Minter from Michigan to man the defense while hiring Kellen Moore to be the club’s new offensive coordinator.
With the coaching staff set, the Chargers quickly turned their focus to opening up some cap room. The club decided to part ways with several of their top playmakers on the offensive side of the ball in the form of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler, and Gerald Everett.
