Despite the USC Trojans 5-5 season, Lincoln Rily has landed his next star quarterback. After USC’s win over Nebraska, long-time commit Julian Lewis announced his decommitment from the program.
But when one door closes, another one opens. 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet was on an official visit in the win over the Cornhuskers, and just minutes after the game-sealing interception, Longstreet publically announced he would be flipping his commitment from Texas A&M to the USC Trojans.

Lincoln Riley’s Reputation
When it comes to quarterbacks, Riley may be the best in the business. Since 2017, he has produced three Heisman quarterbacks, Caleb Williams, Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray, all starting quarterbacks in the NFL. He also coached stars Jalen Hurts and Spencer Rattler, who made three starts in 2024. Longstreet now hopes to add his name to this illustrious list.
Who is Husan Longstreet?
The 5-star is ranked 28th-best player and fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class. In his three years as the starting varsity quarterback, Longstreet has totaled 4,724 passing yards and 43 touchdowns.
In 2022, Longstreet led Inglewood High School to a 13-1 record and an appearance in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Final. He was an all-conference selection and was named the Daily Breeze All-Area Football Player of the Year. Longstreet kept that elite level of play up in 2023, leading his new school, Centennial High School, to a 9-3 record. Now, in 2024, he’s led Cenntenial to a 9-2 record, the fourth-ranked team in California.
While Longstreet has put up impressive numbers through the air, he’s also proven to be a dual-threat with his rushing upside. In his Junior and Senior seasons, he has recorded 1,139 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. As was mentioned earlier, Lincoln Riley has had wild success with quarterbacks. And considering the success he’s had with some of the NFL’s top dual-threats in Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts, Longstreet is set up for success in Los Angeles.
The Future of the USC Trojans
Now that the Trojans have a clear view of their quarterback room in 2025, the question is, who will start? Miller Moss was the starter for the first nine games of 2024, and he still has one year of eligibility remaining. But Moss was benched for Red Shirt-Sophomore Jayden Maiava in the win over Nebraska, so Moss is likely out of the running. Maiava played well in his first start passing 25/35 for 259 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. If Maiava ends the year strong, he will likely be the favorite to start in 2025.
Even if Longstreet takes a red-shirt year, he is set up under quarterback guru Lincoln Riley.
