NFL fans weren’t happy with the way NBC rubbed the ratings from the Kansas City Chiefs’ wins over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night. The broadcast was exclusively shown on Peacock’s over-the-top streaming service outside of Miami and Kansas City.
Fans were upset about the broadcast being placed on Peacock, as the streaming service charged viewers to watch the game Saturday night. The NFL was granted an anti-trust exemption from Congress on TV rights. And the league is stretching that exemption by exploiting viewers during playoff games.
To add insult to injury, NBC decided it was a good idea to brag about their ratings from Saturday night during the Detroit Lions Wild Card matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. Peacock is claiming it was the most streamed event in the US.
NBC celebrates the Peacock game, calling it the "most streamed event ever" with 23 million viewers and thanking Roger Goodell and the NFL.
Mike Tirico calls it "A milestone moment in media and sports history."

NFL fans react to Peacock’s announcement
Many fans on social media claimed they wouldn’t watch the game. However, Peacock’s announcement makes that hard to believe. Here are the best takes on fans reacting to Peacock breaking a streaming record during the Chiefs game.
I guess all the people who predicted it would be the least watched playoff football game ever were wrong?

I one hundred percent don’t believe this because every single person I know that doesn’t have cable did not watch that game. My dad was able to watch it on his NFL package on cable.

I watched the game, because I already had a subscription to Peacock. To the NFL, if it had been on any other streaming service, I would not have watched it. In other words, I ain’t subscribing to a streaming service just to watch the NFL. MLB, NBA and NHL has already lost me because of the Bally Sports mess, and the NFL may well be the next I will drop.
If NBC thinks I’m going to subscribe to Peacock so they can stream their NFL games they are out their minds!
They have no way of knowing how many people streamed this one game via Peacock. They only know how many subscriptions there are!
