The Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager, Jason Licht, said that Lavonte David is the standard for which they strive when drafting new players.
General Manager Licht said year 12 was the finest David has looked in a career that most view as Hall of Fame worthy. As David’s career continues to excel,
General Managers and Coaches love working for the NFL because of their passion for the game. But working with players, especially great ones like Lavonte David, makes working for the NFL even more rewarding. Licht went on to say David is “Elite in every way—as a person, as a player..”.
Lavonte David is the “Standard” in Tampa Bay
Lavonte David is having such a successful career and the stats speak for themselves. They only give him that much more drive for himself and his teammates.
As Licht mentioned David is the standard to which they look for in each Buccaneers player, this only fuels David to be better than his best, to be a leader for his teammates, and to exceed expectations.
Prior to officially re-signing for his 13th season, the elite and powerful linebacker was hoping his 100-plus tackles in every season, except two seasons, would allow the Buccaneers to see him as a chance to get them to the playoffs and hopefully a Super Bowl win.
Gridiron Heroic’s writer, Christian Alamodin, reported that while David the reality of draft season, he is allowing himself to be prepared for an outcome of an offer from the Buccaneers or elsewhere.
In the eyes of Licht, David demonstrates what it means to be a Buccaneer and the type of player they’ll be searching for in the 2024 draft. Licht stated, ”He is the epitome of it, he is the poster child, literally, for us..”
