Maxx Crosby is one of the few bright spots in an otherwise forgettable season for the Las Vegas Raiders. He’s considered one of the league’s top pass rushers after enjoying a career year with the team.
However, he could have performed better if he wasn’t nursing a nagging injury that affected his performance throughout the season. He took the opportunity of a long offseason to immediately address the issue.
Maxx Crosby had procedure done on injured hand
The Spun’s Kameron Duncan revealed that the Raiders’ top pass rusher already had quite a busy offseason, having gone under the knife twice to address issues in his body:
Crosby underwent one surgery on his knee earlier this month, and he had another procedure on Wednesday.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection had hand surgery, repairing another injury that he played through during the 2023 season.
Despite the two injuries, Crosby played in all 17 games for the Raiders. His stellar play made him a finalist for the NFL’s Defensive Play of the Year award along with T.J. Watt, DaRon Bland and Myles Garrett.
Crosby’s numbers this season are nothing to scoff at. He finished the season with 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 55 solo tackles, and a league-leading 23 tackles for loss. To say that he’s single-handedly carrying the Raiders offense in what turned out to be a disappointing 8-9 season is an understatement.
Las Vegas Raiders, Crosby excited to start life under head coach Pierce
Aside from tending to his wounds, Crosby was especially vocal on the coaching front. The moment Antonio Pierce took over duties as the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach, Crosby took to social media to express his excitement for the upcoming season:
I Can’t Wait To Play In These Games. It Will Happen. #Undisputed 🦅💎
— 🦅MaddMaxx🦅 (@CrosbyMaxx) January 28, 2024
The Las Vegas Raiders were an encouraging 5-4 under Pierce, who had to take over after Josh McDaniel was fired midway through the season. One particular highlight for the team was their 20-14 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.
Things are looking up for the team that calls Sin City its home, and Crosby will be leading the Raiders in messing up the hegemony of the AFC West.
