The Las Vegas Raiders needed to improve their running game after finishing 2024 last in rushing yards, 28th in rushing touchdowns, and last in yards per attempt. Las Vegas made their first significant roster move regarding their running game by adding Pro Bowl running back Raheem Mostert. Signing Mostert won’t completely resolve their rushing woes altogether, and the Raiders could use some additional blockers, including a tight end who is capable of blocking.

Thomas is primarily known for his abilities as a run and pass blocker. However, he isn’t known for his pass-catching abilities, recording 119 receptions for 1,062 yards and four touchdowns in seven seasons, averaging 20 receptions for 182 yards and one touchdown in a 17-game season. His best statistical season came in 2018, his rookie season, when he had 36 receptions for 333 yards and two touchdowns.
He missed most of 2024 with an injury

Ian Thomas had a rough 2024 campaign, missing the first five games with a lingering calf injury, and upon returning, had a limited role on offense, playing a career-low five 94 snaps before another injury cut short his season. He caught three passes for seven yards in five games and two starts. Thomas suffered another calf injury in Week 10, sidelining him for their final seven games.
