After a successful 2023 campaign from transfer running back Ray Davis, the Kentucky football program has again landed another top rusher via the transfer portal. Per DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum’s Twitter (also known as X) page, the former Arizona State Sun Devils and Ohio State Buckeyes rusher has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Trayanum entered the transfer portal earlier this month. However, his stay lasted only briefly, with him finding a home in less than two weeks.
Chip Trayanum: College Career
Trayanum starred at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, before committing to Arizona State as a four-star prospect in 2020. The five-foot-eleven back played in four games as a true freshman, rushing 49 times for 290 yards and four scores. Trayanum played behind current Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White in 2021, tallying 402 yards and six scores on 78 attempts. He scored six times.
Trayanum transferred to the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2022, rushing 15 times for 92 yards. He also played linebacker, collecting 13 tackles. Trayanum returned to offense full-time in 2023, taking 85 carries for 373 yards and three scores. His best showing came against the Maryland Terrapins in early October, rushing 20 times for 61 yards and a score.
Kentucky Football: Running Back Room in 2024
The Kentucky Wildcats must replace Re’Mahn “Ray” Davis next season. Davis rushed for 1,066 yards and 13 scores in his lone season with the Wildcats last year. Meanwhile, backup Juhtahn McClain has entered the transfer portal.
Alongside Chip Trayanum, the Wildcats could hand carries to Demie Sumo-Karngbaye. The North Carolina State transfer rushed 20 times for 139 yards and one touchdown this season. Kentucky also has two three-star running back recruits ready to join the program next fall.
