The Baltimore Ravens made an upgrade to their receiver corps ahead of training camp next month. On Friday, the Ravens announced they signed a veteran wide receiver who recently played for the New Orleans Saints.

The Ravens are trying to keep up with their arms race with the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated them in the AFC Championship Game in January. The Ravens lost Odell Beckham Jr. to the Miami Dolphins in free agency. The Chiefs signed Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency and drafted Xavier Worthy in the first round of the draft.

The Ravens need to add depth for 2023 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. The Ravens hinted they were looking to upgrade their receiver room when they announced earlier this week they had released undrafted rookie free agent Tayvion Robinson.

Per a statement by the Ravens, the team announced they signed Keith Kirkwood following a tryout at minicamp earlier this spring:

Kirkwood is entering his seventh season. He’s caught 24 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns over his career, spread between the New Orleans Saints (2018-2019, 2022-2023) and Carolina Panthers (2020-2021).
The 6-foot-3 Kirkwood played in a career-high 13 games last season in New Orleans and made four starts. He caught nine passes for 37 yards and one touchdown.
Kirkwood was originally undrafted out of Temple in 2018.

Here are the best takes on X following the Ravens’ announcement.

Receiver position is questionable this year, they should’ve gotten Lamar help for a superbowl run 🐬🆙

A bunch of no name WRs. That’s exactly what we want. Not someone with talent and a track record of being good.
