Over the weekend, reports came out that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had been arrested for assault of a family or house member by impeding the breathing or circulation. In other words, he was accused of choking/strangling a person residing in his house.
News of the arrest brought heavy criticism against Worthy and the Chiefs, who already have one player with a plethora of legal troubles in wide receiver Rashee Rice. Many fans called on the team to release or suspend the young wide receiver in order to send a message to the rest of their players.
However, it does not sound like that will be necessary.
Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy Is Not Being Charged

Later on Saturday, it was reported that the district attorney declined to pursue any charges against Worthy. Per a report by ESPN:
“After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office,” Dick told the Statesman. “Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation.”
Those findings in their investigation have not been announced publicly, but a recent statement by Worthy’s legal team may shed some light on what they could be:
“The complainant was asked multiple times over the last two weeks to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infidelity, which a private investigator has video evidence of. She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy. The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy’s face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of. Mr. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident that he did not want to press charges against the complainant.”
As one can see, the accuser in this case allegedly cheated on Worthy and, upon his discovering of their actions, was asked to leave his house, which they refused to do.
Worthy’s lawyers also claim that the accuser has tried blackmailing the Chiefs wide receiver in an effort to remain in his house.
