Another Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver is in trouble with the law this offseason, and it is only in early March. Last year, around this time, first-year pass catcher Rashee Rice was at the center of a high-speed hit-and-run crash, leaving four injured. Meanwhile, Rice fled the scene and was eventually charged with one count of aggravated assault and an eye-opening six counts of collision involving injuries.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, reports emerged that Rice’s fellow pass-catching teammate, Xavier Worthy, is in the crosshairs of the legal system. Arrested Friday night, Worthy caught the attention of Texas law enforcement for an assault against a family member.

Kansas City Chiefs star rookie receiver Xavier Worthy made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Saturday morning. Worthy was arrested on Friday night and charged with “assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.” Williamson County Sheriff’s Office booked Worthy on Friday night. Worthy’s arrest marks the second straight offseason a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver had a run-in with the law. Worthy had a standout campaign last year as the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft while performing his best during the postseason.
A riser at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Kansas City selected Worthy late in the first round, and in return, he posted 59 receptions, 638 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. The versatile weapon added 20 rushing attempts for 104 yards and three scores. Worthy was easily the favorite target of quarterback Patrick Mahomes during the team’s run to the Super Bowl. He snagged 19 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns. Like his teammate Rashee Rice, the Texas Longhorns product could face a suspension from the NFL as early as this upcoming season.
