The Kansas City Chiefs are on the brink of making history, aiming to become the first-ever NFL franchise to clinch three consecutive championships. The Chiefs won back-to-back Super Bowl titles over the Eagles in 2023 and the 49ers this past season. With the season looming and Kansas City retaining most of its core players, the Chiefs are again a top contender for the title.

The Chiefs are led by future hall-of-famers Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Mahomes is entering his eighth season as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and has won three champions and two league MVPs during that span. Mahomes has truly entered conversations for the greatest quarterback of all time.
Kelce, who has also had a stellar career, is a nine-time pro bowler and four-time all-pro. He currently ranks fourth all-time for receiving yards by a tight end and could move up to third this season with 513 yards needed to surpass Chargers legend Antonio Gates.
While the Kansas City Chiefs offense often steals the spotlight, the 2023 NFL season saw the Chiefs’ defense stop high-powered opposing offenses. Surpassing expectations, the Chiefs’ defense ranked near the top in most defensive metrics to close out 2023. The Chiefs’ defense is called by coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, one of the best defensive minds in football. Spagnuolo was recently signed to an extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, making him one of the highest-paid coordinators ever. With players like Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis, and Justin Reid, the Chiefs’ defense will create problems for opposing offenses weekly.

Kansas City Chiefs’ Nick Bolton Has Unique Contract Approach
Nick Bolton, the star linebacker for the Chiefs, has a unique approach to his contract situation. While most players prefer to finalize their extensions as soon as possible, Bolton has a different strategy. The 24-year-old told The Draft Network that he’s not prepared to discuss a new contract formally at this time.
“I don’t want to talk extension before training camp. I just want to focus on getting through this season,” Bolton said. “We have one goal in mind right now, and that’s being the first team to ever win three Super Bowls in a row. That’s our mindset.”
Bolton also stated, “I’ll let my contract handle itself after our season. I want to just go out there and play the best football I can play. I’m hoping at the end of the year, we can say we’re the first team ever to win three in a row.”
“We all work our butts off our entire lives to make it to the NFL. Once you get there, it starts being about that second contract. It just adds extra motivation for me to go out there and be who I am,” Bolton added.

Nick Bolton recorded 60 tackles, three pass deflections, and an interception in only eight games last season. During four games in the postseason, Bolton also recorded 40 tackles and one pass deflection. According to AtoZ Sports, Bolton is projected a four-year $71.9M deal. Due to the Chiefs just re-signing Chris Jones to a massive deal, forking over that much money might be a challenging task.
But as of right now, the Chiefs linebacker is clearly only focused on the 2024 campaign.
