The Kansas City Chiefs made a major move to upgrade their offensive weaponry in 2024.
In their latest free-agency rankings, ESPN revealed their best (and worst) signings thus far of the 2024 NFL off-season. The defending back-to-back Super Bowl Champions signed playmaker, Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown to a one-year, $11 million deal to give the club a much-needed jolt on the offensive side of the ball for Patrick Mahomes.
“Kansas City GM Brett Veach addressed the team’s biggest offseason concern. The Chiefs led the league in dropped passes (38) last season. Veach needed to acquire a potential difference-maker at the receiver position, and Brown has elite speed and is an elusive runner after the catch. In his five NFL seasons, Brown has 3,644 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns. He gives the Chiefs their best deep threat since they traded Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins.”
Kansas City Chiefs’ Dynasty Continued in 2023
Fresh-off their 2022 Super Bowl Championship season, the Kansas City Chiefs were locked and loaded for another title surge in 2023. However, everything didn’t go as planned to kick-off their campaign this past season. Patrick Mahomes didn’t have his usual offensive weaponry and his one constant, Travis Kelce had a riddled injury start to the season. This time, the defense stepped up and for the first-time in his career, Mahomes and the offense just had to be good enough in order to win it all. Mahomes and the offense did just that while the defense continued to dominate, which led to a second-straight season ending with Andy Reid’s squad lifting the coveted Lombardi Trophy.
