As only the NFL can, America’s most prominent professional sport got off to an epic and thrilling start on Thursday, with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Baltimore Ravens 27-20. Nursing a touchdown lead with just 19 seconds remaining, Baltimore sat at the Kansas City ten-yard line, eyeing the game-tying score. However, Ravens two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson misfired on the first play before a potential touchdown by tight end Isaiah Likely was overturned. Nevertheless, one former All-Pro wideout sidestepped Baltimore’s late-game shortcomings due to the loss, claiming the officiating was one-sided.

Last night, during the Chiefs’ stellar win over the Ravens, former Atlanta Falcons great Roddy White called out the NFL for penalizing Baltimore left tackle Ronnie Stanley but not Kansas City offensive lineman Jawaan Taylor for a similar infraction.

Per Roddy White’s personal Twitter account:

74 for the Chiefs is lined up in the backfield every play and they called that on Baltimore the whole first drive. Lol, the NFL is funny.

They cheating these boys for real 74 for Chiefs is way worst than Stanley, and not getting called and jumping offsides, wow.

On Thursday night, NFL officials flagged Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley three times for illegal formations. They also penalized fellow Baltimore tackle Patrick Mekari for the same infraction. The Kansas City Chiefs, mainly tackle Jawaan Taylor, did not receive a penalty for illegal formation. Postgame, Stanley took exception with the illegal formation penalty being “one-sided,” claiming he positioned himself no different than Taylor in last night’s loss.

According to NFL rules, an offensive tackle’s hamlet must break the center’s rear plane to be legally aligned. Thursday’s game is not the first time NFL fans have taken exception to how Taylor positions himself at the tackle position, with the 26-year-old receiving criticism for his alignment multiple times last season. Longtime Atlanta Falcons star Roddy White was none too pleased with the NFL’s handling of the situation, going as far as claiming the leaguer “cheated” Baltimore.
