Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was not happy with the refs after Sunday’s game. The offensive offsides call was the catalyst for Mahomes to go completely berserk on the sidelines. He slammed his helmet and yelled at officials but it was his postgame handshake that raised many eyebrows. He continued to rant about the bad call to Josh Allen which many people found to horrible sportsmanship. Mahomes apologized on Monday for his behavior.
Patrick Mahomes to @cdotharrison today: "I regret the way I acted towards Josh (Allen) after the game. Because he had nothing to do with it. I was still hot and emotional, but you can’t do that. It’s not a great example for kids watching the game."pic.twitter.com/x6ABtCBob1 https://t.co/ldRgtl7Oez

Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes Apologizes
After the emotion of the moment died down, Mahomes realized that it wasn’t right for him to behave like that in the moment.
“I regret the way I acted towards Josh (Allen) after the game. Because he had nothing to do with it. I was still hot and emotional, but you can’t do that. It’s not a great example for kids watching the game.”
It isn’t surprising that Mahomes apologized after he cooled off. Frustration was clearly boiling over from this season and Mahomes was caught up in the emotion of the moment. This is the tough part about having mics everywhere right after an emotional game. Mahomes needs to control his emotions in that moment but the reaction is understandable to me.
Chiefs In Uncharted Territory
While the Chiefs should still comfortably make the playoffs, they will likely not secure a number one overall seed. In the past, they have had the benefit of a bye week and home-field advantage. Now, they will likely have to play wild card weekend and likely have a road game in order to get to the Super Bowl. This offense does not look like the juggernaut it usually is. Even if they had pulled out the victory, the offense didn’t play well again. It is something that should concern a lot of Chiefs fans.
Ultimately, I am not counting the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes out of any game. They have proven that they can win games in tough circumstances so I have to give them the benefit of the doubt.
