The Kansas City Chiefs look like they have the team to make a run at three-straight Super Bowls, a feat that has never been accomplished in the modern NFL.
But while the team seemed focused and looked like one of the top squads in the league in their opening win over the Baltimore Ravens, their players continue to make headlines off the field.
One would assume this would cause unnecessary distractions, but the Chiefs clearly handle it well.
The biggest storyline has been the relationship between star tight end and global pop superstar Taylor Swift. Kelce admitted he was dating Swift last September and suddenly the pop music world and NFL community collided, creating the perfect storm for both culture and sports media.
Since then, their relationship has been covered as if they were part of the royal family in England, with every move and decision scrutinized and analyzed.
Most recently, Swift took to social media following Tuesday’s debate and publicly endorsed presidential candidate Kamala Harris in a post that garnered millions of interactions..
Naturally, fans wondered if her Kansas City Chiefs star boyfriend would follow suit, but Kelce hasn’t commented on the election except ssying he would attend the White House if Donald Trump was in fact elected in an old podcast episode.
On the other end of the spectrum is Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs star QB, Patrick.
There were rumors her and Swift were possibly feuding over their political preferences — as Mahomes has been been tied to supporting Trump — and the two friends who are normally seen together during games sat in separate boxes during the opener.
Brittany hasn’t publicly endorsed Trump. But she did receive backlash when she seemingly liked an Instagram post by Trump last month and allegedly unliked the post at a later date after criticism. Brittany later doubled down on her opinion on Instagram by calling her critics haters. She’s also liked several comments that were pro-Trump on her Instagram.
The Kansas City Chiefs star has remained neutral when it comes to politics, despite his wife’s public showing.
“I’ve always said I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” Patrick said. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family.”
It’s obvious the intersection of sports and politics play a major role within the Chiefs organization, but they continue to perform well on the field.
Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker Spotted With Tucker Carlson At Conservative Event
This offseason, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker became the focal point after a controversial commencement speech he gave at Benedictine college.
During the speech, the three-time Super Bowl champion told the graduating class that most of the women receiving degrees were probably more excited about getting married and having children, and that some Catholic leaders were “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.”
Butker also publicly disagreed with Pride month, an important time for the LGBTQ+ community, and President Joe Biden’s stance on abortion.
From that point, the Kansas City Chiefs kicker has been either hated, or loved, depending which way someone leans politically. While he hasn’t been vocal about supporting Trump, Butker clearly identifies as a conservative and isn’t scared to stand behind his views

On Thursday night, a photo surfaced of Butker backstage with Conservative media personalities Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly.
If the Chiefs can keep their politics off the field and continue to eliminate outside distraction, they may just be poised for a third Lombardi Trophy.
