The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their huge matchup against the Miami Dolphins. This matchup is a part of the international series and is being played in Germany. Chiefs receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling isn’t a fan and in a recent interview said having to play overseas “sucks”.
Kansas City Chiefs Marquez Valdes-Scantling On Germany Game
The receiver expressed frustration over having to travel across the pond when a great home atmosphere is right down the road.
“Yeah, it sucks. I mean, obviously it sucks that we have to travel nine hours for a home game when Arrowhead is right down the street. But obviously we do have other fans that are all over the world, not just in the United States. So it gives them the opportunity to see some of their favorite players play.
“I know we’ve got a lot of fans over in Germany, so I’m grateful that we get to give them that opportunity. But it does suck for the players to have to be away from their families, or (I’ve) got to find a babysitter for my dogs for a couple days. Things that we’ve got to take into account. But past that, it is what it is.”
Valdes-Scantling recognizes that this is a great opportunity for international fans to see their favorite players in person but it puts a lot of stress on the teams. A normal home game turns into quite an ordeal when players have to travel overseas.
Huge Matchup
This is a huge matchup for both teams and fans in Germany should be happy they get to see two of the best teams go toe-to-toe. The Chiefs are looking to put the embarrassing loss to the Broncos behind them and show they are still the best in the AFC. The Dolphins are looking to show the league that they can beat a good team, not just the bottom feeders of the league. It is one of the best matchups of the week and should give us a better picture of how serious of a contender the Dolphins are or how much we should panic about the Chiefs.
Despite what Marquez Valdes-Scantling or anyone on the Kansas City Chiefs says, the international series is not going away. Roger Goodell has made it clear that he wants international expansion to happen in the league so players better start getting used to it.
