Former President Donald Trump campaigns at the Dayton International Airport on March 16, 2024, in Ohio. The state holds its Republican Senate primary on the following Tuesday.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw their bid to become the first team to win the Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons fall short this past year. Despite being the favorites to win as the defending back-to-back Super Bowl Champions, they were blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22.

Of course, it was the Eagles, therefore, who received the annual and traditional invite by the President of the United States to the White House. But while President Donald Trump has indeed invited Philadelphia to a ceremony to honor their win, he also wants to host the Chiefs.

Trump was not President during either of Kansas City’s last two Super Bowl wins. However, he was in the White House when they won in 2019. Unfortunately, though, the Chiefs were not able to accept his invitation that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now that he has been re-elected President after losing to Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential Election, Trump would like to host Kansas City despite their loss in the Super Bowl this year to celebrate their win from years earlier.

“I look forward to having the (Philadelphia) Eagles (for winning Super Bowl LIX in February). And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that, because they missed their turn because of Covid,” Trump was reported to have said.

And it sounds like the Chiefs will be thrilled to accept.

Speaking to reporters at the annual NFL owners meetings this week, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said he was honored by Trump’s thought and that the team would be happy to visit him at the White House.

“We’re very honored that the president would think about us, going back to the 2019 season, when we didn’t get to go to the White House,” Hunt said via Fox News. “We certainly would like to try to figure out how to make that happen.”

The Hunt Family, of course, have been outspoken supporters of President Trump. So, too, is kicker Harrison Butker who, last year, became more well-known for his traditional right-wing values and views than his play on the field.
