Much like any team in the league, the Kansas City Chiefs also have a lot to deal with in the upcoming free agency window. Sitting atop their list has to be two-time All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13.
That is unless the Chiefs are able to negotiate a new deal for the 29-year-old before he hits free agency.
Analyst Demands Kansas City Chiefs Show Chris Jones the Money
The Chiefs had more than a few heroes on their squad throughout what turned out to be another iconic Super Bowl run. However, more than a few folks believe that Jones was the unheralded hero of Kansas City’s third title in four years.
One of those believers is NFL analyst Peter Schrager of FOX Sports. Schrager pointed out that Jones was one of the most important players on the squad, which is exactly why the Chiefs will need to pay him the big bucks:
“If Chris Jones never plays another snap, he’s a Hall of Famer. He’s the most underrated player of this entire Chiefs run. … He wants to be a Chief. The Chiefs want him. Chris Jones belongs in a Chiefs uniform.”

As for the price, it’s very much possible that Jones will once again be aiming to be one of the highest-paid defensive players in the game along with the likes of Aaron Donald and Nick Bosa. This means a contract amounting to $30 million per season wouldn’t be a complete shock for the five-time Pro Bowler.
Whether or not the Chiefs give in to his demand, however, is an altogether different story.
