During the Charger’s 24-27 road loss against the Chiefs, Justin Herbert put fear into Charger’s fans hearts. Herbert suffered what was later reported as fractured rib cartilage after being hit by Defensive End Mike Danna. Los Angeles was lucky enough to have a 10 day break after playing on Thursday Night Football. They are hopeful he will make his return this Sunday against Jacksonville for the week 3 matchup.
Running back Austin Ekeler is the bearer of good news this week as we await the decision on Herbert’s status. On Ekelers twitch stream he told fans a brief story to shed some light on the Quarterbacks situation. “He had a big ole smile. Him and Corey Linsley were sitting there next to each other in the training room.” Ekeler then asked “You guys gettin better?” Ekeler also gave fans hope saying that he expects Herbert will be good to go on Sunday.
Ethan over at the FromTheBackSeat podcast was the first to share the breaking news to social media:

The updates continue to break as NFL Network Reporter Bridget Condon also reports on the Quarterbacks status. On September 21st, she reports from a source inside the Chargers building that Justin Herbert was in the facility “doing what he normally does.” He was seen lifting weights, running, watching film, and even throwing. Obviously, Herbert was limited in practice with no pads and no contact. However, things seem to be trending very positively for the former Oregon Duck heading into Sunday.
Justin Herbert is off to another incredible start as he enters year three. He is fourth in MVP betting odds at +900. Herbert has thrown for 613 yards and 6 touchdowns with just 1 interception on the season.
Week Three Outlook:
The Chargers are set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars in SoFi Stadium, Sunday September 25th. Kickoff is set for 4:05 EST/ 1:05 PST. Los Angeles opens up as a -7 point favorite against Trevor Lawrence’s Jags.
