Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields confirmed a rumor about his Instagram account that started Monday evening. Fans pointed out that Fields unfollowed the Bears on Instagram, prompting many in Chicago to believe the team was getting ready to trade him.
The Chicago Bears have a big decision to make at QB
The Bears have to decide in the next few weeks if they’re going to trade Fields and draft a quarterback with the number one pick in the 2024 NFL Draft or keep him. Fields’ decision to unfollow the Bears seemed like a precursor to the quarterback shifting his allegiance away from Chicago to a new home for the 2024 season.
Fields name has been trending heavily with the Atlanta Falcons this week. Betting markets have the Falcons trending as a favorite to land the Georgia native after Fields unfollowed the Bears, and it was shown he follows several offensive players in Atlanta.
Justin Fields unfollowed the Bears
During an appearance on the 33rd Team‘s “St. Browns Bros” podcast that was released Wednesday, Fields said he unfollowed the Bears and the NFL on Instagram because he was tired of the endless cycle of news surrounding his future:
“Why do people take social media so serious like,” Fields asked.” I still mess with the Bears. I’m just trying to take a little break. I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL, bro. I’m not trying to have football on my timeline. I know y’all mess with a girl EQ [St. Brown], especially you. Just because you don’t follow the girl on [Instagram] don’t mean you’re not messing with her.”
Fields is ready for the process to be over
Fields is ready to know where he will play for the 2024 season. Fields wants to play for the Bears, but more than anything, he wants them to let him know what direction they’re going in at quarterback.
“The biggest thing with all of this going on right? I just want it to be over,” Fields said. “Like, just let me know if I’m getting traded. Let me know if I’m staying, this and that. Because I like watching film in the offseason, I like watching offense, seeing what they are going to do and all that.”
Fields will know soon enough. The Bears will get a chance to take at the top quarterback prospects, including the much-hyped Caleb Williams, at the NFL Scouting Combine next week. If the Bears want to draft a quarterback with the number one pick, they’ll look to shop Fields between the combine and the start of free agency next month.
