Jordan Travis has decided to retire from football after a college football injury that never fully healed. Travis announced his retirement through a heartfelt note which he shared on his X account, drawing reactions from numerous sportspersons, teammates, and friends.
Travis played as a quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals before transferring to Florida State to play for the Seminoles. In his senior year with the team, Travis injured his ankle in a tackle. The injury was far more serious than originally though,t and the quarterback was diagnosed with a fractured and dislocated left ankle. Despite his injury, Travis was selected by the New York Jets as the 171st pick in the fifth round, but did not play even one game.
“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn. I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I’ve been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply.” Jordan Travis said in his retirement post through his X account.

“Gods got you,” Robert Griffin III, former NFL quarterback, commented on Jordan Travis’ post. Griffin is definitely able to empathize with Jordan Travis, as he himself had to retire as a result of an injury in his rookie season.
Gods got you 🙏🏾

In his retirement post, Jordan Travis also thanked everyone near and dear who have helped him in his career. He also confessed that ‘this is not the ending’ he had hoped for, but ended the note in optimism that he trusts God above everything else. Travis also included a verse from the book of Proverbs in the Bible to end his note.

Jordan Travis’s Sports Agent Felt New York Jets Pressured Him To Return To Play
Jordan Travis being selected by the New York Jets surely came as a surprise since the quarterback had still not recovered from his injury. The Jets provided Travis with all the best rehab facilities he could hope for, but apparently pressured him to return to the field as quickly as possible according to his agent Deiric Jackson.

While speaking to ESPN back in March, Jackson criticized the Jets for this. He also remarked that the young quarterback will return to play for the 2025 NFL season. Unfortunately, before he could even play one game for the Jets, Jordan Travis was advised to retire.
