The Michigan Wolverines finished the 2024 season with a 7-5 record after missing the college football playoffs. Michigan is under pressure to get back to the playoffs in 2025 and this will be the second year that Jim Harbaugh is not around as the head coach after he left for the NFL to coach the Los Angeles Chargers.

Sherrone Moore is entering his second season with the Wolverines football program as the head coach. Moore has to prove himself in his second season or they are going to be many questions about him after the 2025 season concludes. Michigan has won four straight games against archrivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes, but they need to show more than just that in 2025.
College Football Analyst Believes Michigan Wolverines Could Feel Absence Of Jim Harbaugh Once Again In 2025

Michigan has a favorable schedule in the 2025 season. Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports thinks that there is a world that the Wolverines could finish 12-0 in 2025, but that would be a major surprise. Also, he thinks that the worst-case scenario for this football program could be finishing with a 7-5 record once again in 2025. Fornelli said,
“It turns out Jim Harbaugh was important to the program. Underwood shows flashes but is a true freshman prone to making mistakes. The Wolverines are blown out by Oklahoma and then lose again at Nebraska while Sherrone Moore serves his suspension. More road losses follow against USC and rival Michigan State. Then the regular season ends with a blowout loss to Ohio State, in which the Buckeyes exorcise all the demons. The NCAA then hits the program with a two-year postseason ban.”
There is no doubt a lot of the 2025 season is riding on the freshman star quarterback. Underwood is a five-star recruit, and he was the number one recruit for the class of 2025. He was originally going to go play for head coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers, but Underwood decided to stay home instead.
If the Wolverines go 7-5 again, it will be because of some hiccups from Underwood, but a lot of the issues could be because of coaching once. Going 7-5 in 2025 will go to show that they miss Harbaugh more than originally thought.
