On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs placed another starter on injured reserve. The Chiefs are dealing with a considerable number of injuries ahead of their week 8 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Many teams are injured around this time of year, like the 3-4 San Francisco 49ers and 3-3 Dallas Cowboys. Fortunately for the Chiefs, the team is undefeated through the first seven weeks of the season, thanks to their defense.
But injuries are starting to hit that side of the ball too.
The Kansas City Chiefs have tons of WR injuries
Still, the injuries are a cause for concern before the trade deadline. Wide receiver Marquise Brown is expected to miss months with a shoulder injury. Rashee Rice is out for the year with a knee issue. Head coach Andy Reid ruled out JuJu Smith-Schuster for a hamstring injury he aggravated on Sunday.
Jaylen Watson being placed on injured reserve
Per a statement by the Chiefs, the team revealed several roster moves, including the news that cornerback Jaylen Watson is being placed on injured reserve for a broken fibula and tibia.
“We have signed CB Keith Taylor to an active roster contract from our Practice Squad. We have signed QB Chris Oladokun and WR Cornell Powell to the Practice Squad,” per the Chiefs’ statement. “We have placed CB Jaylen Watson on Reserve/Injured. The Cleveland Browns signed QB Bailey Zappe to their active roster from our Practice Squad.”

Nazeeh Johnson is listed as Watson’s replacement on the depth chart.
