The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly?
It has been a little over a month since mandatory minicamp came to a close for the Philadelphia Eagles. Mandatory minicamp lasted six days however, on two of those days media members were able to attend portions of the camp. Throughout that time all reporters were reporting good things about Jalen Hurts. His accuracy looked like it improved from last year, he was slinging it around all parts of the field, and his arm strength looks good yet yesterday a tweet went out telling fans the opposite.
Derrick Gunn, long-time Eagles insider and now podcaster, had quite the quote when he appeared on JAKIB Media’s Sports Take alongside Rob Ellis and Barrett Brooks. and gave a quote that would contradict everything that has been so far about Hurts this offseason. “One person said let me give a scenario of what he went through in one day of practice. It was a ten-play scenario. He had three picks, four incompletions, and three sacks. Brooks followed up this quote by asking Gunn “This is OTAs when you heard that?” Gunn Responded “Yes. Yes, this is OTAs.”

No Time Like The Present
OTA workouts for the Philadelphia Eagles occurred May 25-27 and June 2-4, while mandatory minicamp took place June 8-10. While no one is perfect and everyone can have a bad day at the office, something doesn’t seem to be adding up. Why did this quote just come out yesterday? How can Hurts look so bad and then a few weeks later look like he is ready for a huge step forward in his development? This is a make-or-break year for Hurts. If he struggles the Philadelphia Eagles might be looking for their next franchise Quarterback. Only time will tell as Eagles training camp begins July 26th.
