Jackson Powers-Johnson, a Las Vegas Raiders player, seems to be quite happy about the team hiring Chip Kelly as their offensive coordinator. Powers-Johnson took to his X account to express his excitement about Kelly’s addition to the team for the upcoming NFL season. In addition to Chip Kelly, the Raiders have made another change to their coaching squad by recently hiring Pete Carroll as their new head coach.

The Las Vegas Raiders certainly had a disastrous NFL 2024 season and finished last in the AFC West with four wins and 13 defeats. In their last game of the season, the Raiders played against the Los Angeles Chargers and lost the game with a final score of 34-20.

“Let’s goooo” Jackson Powers-Johnson tweeted through his X account with four duck emojis, referring to the Oregon Ducks, whom Johnson played for from 2021 to 2023.

Powers-Johnson was the 44th pick of the 2nd round in the 2024 NFL draft and was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders. In his entire career, Johnson played 15 games and started 14 of them.

Jackson Powers-Johnson’s New OC Highest Paid In NFL

Meanwhile, it has been reported Chip Kelly, the new offensive coordinator of Jackson Powers-Johnson and the rest of the Las Vegas Raiders is the highest-paid OC in the NFL. Kelly has plenty of coaching experience on his resume and even coached the Oregon Ducks college football team from 2007 to 2008, coincidentally where Powers-Johnson played during his college days.

Kelly also served as head coach in the NFL, namely for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013 to 2015 and then for the San Francisco 49ers for the 2016 season. After the NFL, Kelly moved back to college football, and was UCLA’s head coach from 2018 to 2023. Last year, he moved to Ohio State as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

The Raiders hiring Pete Carroll was quite surprising, and now with Chip Kelly joining the team, the management seems to be clear about their moves. Apparently, Chip Kelly might be a potential successor to Carroll. Plus, Kelly will also be a well-rounded counterpart for Carroll, especially in training up the quarterbacks.

In addition to these reasons, Chip Kelly’s extensive experience in working with college football players will make him a valuable trainer for newly added players and inexperienced players to the team. It is no surprise that Kelly is the highest paid offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders right now.
