Jack Tuttle transferred to the Michigan Wolverines in the off-season. While many players use the transfer portal to look for more playing time, the sixth-year quarterback is looking for something different. In a recent interview, Tuttle explained why he chose to come to Michigan.

Jack Tuttle On Why He Transferred To The Michigan Wolverines

Tuttle knew that he would not get much playing time behind JJ McCarthy. However, that is not his primary goal. He is chasing a national championship. “I thought I owed it to myself to go big and help this program with anything — whatever goals they want to accomplish,” Tuttle said. Michigan’s recruiting pitch was for him to come and back up McCarthy and help them win a championship. The Wolverines have come up short the past two years and are hoping this is the year they can get over the hump.

What Can Tuttle Bring To The Team?

His impact is twofold. First, he brings an experience element to the quarterback room. While he won’t be the starting quarterback, he can help coach McCarthy based on his five years of experience. Second, he brings some insurance to the position in case of injury. Obviously, the hope is that McCarthy can play every minute of every game but injuries happen. Tuttle would be a capable backup that could come in a win a game or two.

The Wolverines are hoping this is the year that they can finally bring the national championship trophy back to Ann Arbor. They have many returning starters and should be the favorite in the Big Ten. However, I wouldn’t discount the impact that players like Jack Tuttle can have on a team trying to win it all. He came to Michigan to have a shot at winning it all and hopefully the team will give him that chance.
