Drew Pyne’s Newest Commitment
Drew Pyne has officially committed to University of Missouri.
His commitment to University of Missouri comes as no surprise, given his exceptional skills and dedication on the field. As a promising young quarterback, with three more eligible playing years, Pyne is set to be a great asset to the team.
Pyne had a short year in 2023 with the Arizona State University Sun Devils followed by a short time with Notre Dame University Fighting Irish. Although he left the Fighting Irish, he later decided to re-enroll back into the university. Pyne did not re-enroll to play football, but instead re-enrolled to finish his degree.
What makes Pyne’s college football career intriguing? Many may be intrigued because of the amount of success he has achieved while encountering injuries and three school transfers.
The pressure and stress of a hamstring injury as well as a shoulder injury did not affect his performance and growth. He achieved 17 games played with Notre Dame Fighting Irish and in 2022, his busiest season, there were 11 games in which he passed for 2021 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.
Pyne’s future in football raises questions among fans and teammates regarding his potential as a starter and the amount of playing time he will receive.
He will be joining the University of Missouri starting quarterback, Brady Cook. Cook has had a successful career with one year of eligibility left. Last year in 2023, Cook finished the season with a win at the Cotton Bowl.
According to Pete Thamel at ESPN, Drew Pyne told ESPN,”From the beginning, Missouri stood out”.
Pyne’s Performance Predictions
Drew Pyne is due to turn some heads with his superb skills. He has a thorough comprehension and high readability of offensive concepts. Pyne also showcases his skills when it comes to his quick release.
Pyne’s has a talent for not having the ball in his hands long. According to “Film Study: Notre Dame freshman QB Drew Pyne”, Pyne is an expert in the short passing game and understands how to operate quickly. He has an obvious confidence and his ability to demonstrate his skills further support the confidence he displays.
Additionally, Pyne’s expertise on understanding of the offense makes it easy for him to make his way down the field.
Between his clean and clever pump fakes and his quick feet, there is no doubt his skills will only add to the University of Missouri’s long list of accomplishments.
Pyne had told ESPN that he and Cook already have a relationship from when they previously met at the Manning Passing Academy. By already having an established bond, having Pyne as Cook’s backup Quarterback should be nothing but positive.
A Win-Win
The commitment of Pyne to Missouri is a win-win for each party. If Cook were to be injured and unable to play, Missouri can rely on accomplished Pyne. Securing Pyne is another win for The University of Missouri as they hope to secure a College Football Playoff Berth. If Cook were to become injured, Missouri would be prepared in surviving the season because of being able to rely on Pyne.
The program has great momentum as one of the best in the SEC and to be one of the best in the country. Being on campus and talking to the coaches, I understand why they had such a great season last year.
Pyne spoke with ESPN telling them Missouri’s trajectory as a reason why he chose to commit without taking a visit to any other campuses.
Additionally, Pyne told ESPN, “The program has great momentum as one of the best in the SEC and to be one of the best in the country. Being on campus and talking to the coaches, I understand why they had such a great season last year”.
Another reason Drew Pyne’s commitment to the University allows for a headstart on its’ quartback options for 2025. With Cook entering his last year of eligibility and Pyne still having 3 eligible years left, Missouri and Pyne have a sense of security.
