The Indianapolis Colts were at one point considered dead in the water earlier this season. No one had hope that they would come back and make the playoffs, especially after the season-ending shoulder injury suffered by starting rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. However, the team has found a way to rally together and now hold a 7-5 record and are very much in the playoff picture in the AFC.
Jonathan Taylor missed last week’s win over the Tennessee Titans due to a thumb injury. He had to have surgery and it was expected that he could miss multiple weeks.
Ahead of the Colts’ Week 14 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, it seems that Taylor may actually have a chance to play.
Colts Receive Major Injury Update On Jonathan Taylor
During a recent press conference, head coach Shane Steichen was asked about the formality of ruling Taylor out for this week’s game. That had been the expected result all week long. Steichen revealed a major positive injury update on the star running back.
“We’ll see.”
I asked #Colts HC Shane Steichen if it's safe to say Jonathan Taylor (thumb) will be out for a second straight game:
"We'll see." https://t.co/bUBBqeGZAL

Granted, that’s not the massive announcement that Colts fans would love to hear, which is that Taylor would be playing. However, that was never expected in the first place.
Even having a chance to play this week means that Taylor is ahead of schedule in his recovery. That alone is a big win for the Colts. They need him back on the field for the offense to play at its highest level.
So far this season in seven games played, Taylor has carried the football 100 times for 414 yards and four touchdowns. He has also caught 16 passes for 137 yards and another touchdown. Beyond the box score, Taylor’s mere presence forces teams to alter their game-plans to make sure that he doesn’t break off a big play.
Hopefully, Taylor will be able to do the unthinkable and return to the field after missing just one week. That outcome doesn’t seem extremely likely, but apparently there is some hope.
Make sure to tune in to see if the Colts can pick up yet another huge win when they take on the Bengals on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST on CBS.
