The Indianapolis Colts can load up their secondary this summer, but how they’ll do it remains to be seen. The Miami Dolphins released Xavien Howard last month, so they may try to get him, or they might take a younger approach by selecting a player in this summer’s NFL Draft.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper suggests that the Indianapolis Colts should take the young and cheap route by swooping up Terrion Arnold via the No. 15 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Indianapolis got solid cornerback play from rookies JuJu Brents (Round 2) and Jaylon Jones (Round 7) last season, but it has to keep improving there,” wrote Kiper. “Frankly, the Colts need a talent injection on their entire defense, which is why I could see them picking the best available defender here.”
“Six-foot Arnold picked off five passes and allowed just four catches of 20-plus yards as the nearest defender in coverage last season. Minnesota has a clear void at the position, and he could be a day-one starter,” he added.
Terrion Arnold has a bold declaration that would excite Indianapolis Colts fans
Terrion Arnold has yet to play a single snap in the NFL, but he believes he can be a Pro Football Hall of Famer someday.
“I write it down every day and say I refuse to ever let that happen again. And that’s what’s going to lead me and take me to getting that gold jacket, which is the Hall of Fame. The gold jacket, and I ain’t talking about the one you could buy,” said Arnold during last Thursday’s NFL Combine.
According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, the Indianapolis Colts have already met with the Alabama stalwart, and his personality and love for his mom stood out. However, since he’s that good, there’s a chance that Arnold won’t even make it to 15th in the NFL Draft.
If Arnold goes off the board earlier than expected, the Indianapolis Colts might have to consider getting Kool-Aid McKinstry, Arnold’s college teammate, Quinyon Mitchell, Nate Wiggins, or TJ Tampa.
