North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick is preparing to enter his first season ever heading up a college football program. A six-time Super Bowl winner with New England Patriots, Belichick has already etched his name in the history books as arguably the greatest head coach in NFL history.
Unfortunately, most of the news surrounding him since he arrived at Chapel Hill has had little to do with the work he is doing to rebuild the program. Instead, they are focused on his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson and her behavior.
Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson Have Been Embroiled in Controversy for Months
It did not take long after Belichick’s arrival at North Carolina for things to seem amiss. Early reporting stated that the legendary head coach instructed university officials that any emails he received should also be forwarded to Hudson. The problem with that, of course, is that she is not a university employee.
Over the course of the past several months, Hudson and Belichick have frequently been in the headlines, though never for good reasons. The so-called head of Belichick media was exposed by CBS for interfering with their interview with the Tar Heels head coach.
During the filming of their sit down with Belichick, they asked the coach how he met his girlfriend. “We’re not going to talk about that,” Hudson could be heard saying off camera. Apparently, it was one of many instances in which she interrupted the proceedings.
And not only did that remark get journalists digging into her background and the couple’s relationship, but it (along with the other aforementioned instances that were not included when the interview aired) caused CBS to cancel their second interview with Belichick.
Bill Belichick Does Not Seem Bothered by the Jordon Hudson Controversy
For his part, Belichick has not discussed his relationship with Hudson or the many controversial instances that she has been involved in at great length. He would rather the focus be on what he is doing with the Tar Heels football program rather than on his personal life.
When asked about the constant negativity surrounding him and his young girlfriend, Belichick responded, “It is what it is. “Look, I’m really focused on doing my job here at North Carolina… that’s my big focus. Is there noise out there? We’ve always dealt with that. Really, our job is to build a football team and…help build the team and also build their individual careers. So that’s really where we’re at.”
While that is all well and good, the questions and journalistic investigations centered on Belichick and Hudson are likely to continue.
That notion does not seem to bother him, though. And if he really is focusing on football as much as he says he is, it is easy to see why he is not bothered.
Rather, he is oblivious.
