The New England Patriots made a key signing Friday to keep a critical offensive weapon around for the next three seasons. The Patriots had a few question marks on their roster for pass-catching positions coming into the offseason.
The New England Patriots are expected to add a new QB
The Patriots are expected to draft a quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The team also wants to sign a veteran quarterback as it plans for life without Mac Jones. The Patriots need to ensure they have solid pass catchers for the 2024 season for the rookie quarter to develop in New England.
The Patriots extended TE Hunter Henry
Per Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Patriots are signing tight end Hunter Henry to a three-year deal. The move comes days before he would have hit free agency next week.
It’s a three-year deal for Hunter Henry to stick with the #Patriots. Terms are agreed to, per me and @RapSheet. https://t.co/ArVvfKtjxq

Henry was an important target in 2023
Henry was the Patriots’ second-leading receiver for the 2023 campaign. He caught 42 passes for 419 yards and six touchdowns for the Patriots last season. The former San Diego Chargers second-round pick is a big-bodied and reliable target who will make life easier for Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels if they go that route in April.
With Henry signed, the Patriots have one other key receiver they need to decide on. Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne wants to remain in New England but has no deal in place before free agency as he recovers from an ACL injury.
